To apply for a visa to Brazil as an Indian, you'll need to navigate through a series of steps. Below is a structured guide to help you through the entire process:

Step 3: Download the Receipt

After you submit your application, a receipt is generated. Print and sign this receipt.

Step 4: Send the Documents to the Brazilian Embassy/Consulate via email or courier

Send the receipt, the completed visa application form, and other required documents (check the section below for detailed documentation) to the Brazilian Consulate where your visa application will be processed. This must be done within 180 days from the date the receipt is generated. 

You can also send your online visa application form (RER), filled, signed, and with a passport photo attached to it, by email to consular.newdelhi@itamaraty.gov.br.

Step 5: Pay the Visa Fee at the Consulate

After checking all the information submitted by you, the Consular Agent will collect the visa fee from you. 

Step 6: Receive Your Visa

After the Embassy processes your visa application and finds everything in order it will grant you your visa. The Brazil tourist visa processing time can vary, so it’s advisable to apply well in advance of your planned travel date.

The processing time for a Brazil visa for Indian nationals typically ranges from 5 to 15 working days. However, the exact time can vary depending on the type of visa, the specific requirements of the local Brazilian consulate, and the individual's circumstances. It's advisable to apply well in advance of the intended travel date to accommodate any potential delays.

The visa fee is non-refundable. The only method of payment accepted by the Embassy of Brazil is a non-refundable identified bank transfer or deposit in the RBL bank account. The applicant will receive the details once the process is analysed and ready to be processed.

Please note that it is not enough that your name appears on the transaction receipt. Your name must show up in the Embassy's bank account. To ensure this, make the bank transfer directly from your personal bank account and not from a third party's account. 

The validity of a Brazil tourist visa for Indian nationals is up to 180 days. Tourists can apply for an extension to stay for an additional 90 days beyond the initial visa period, making it possible to stay for a total of up to 180 days in a year. However, this extension is not granted automatically. Visitors must apply at the nearest Brazilian Federal Police office before their current visa expires to request an extension.

Whether you need a transit visa for Brazil depends on your travel itinerary and the tickets you hold. If you have a single ticket under one booking reference that covers all legs of your journey, including any stopovers, and you stay within the airport's transit zone, you do not require a transit visa.

However, if you have separate tickets for your inbound and outbound flights and need to exit the transit zone (for instance, to check-in again), you will need a transit visa. This applies if your country does not have a visa exemption agreement with Brazil.
