Let's dive into the world of Russian visas together!
Yes, if you're an Indian planning to visit Russia, you'll need a visa to enter the country. Indian citizens can apply for a Russian eVisa through the Official eVisa portal or Teleport for a convenient and simplified application process. There is no requirement to apply at Russian diplomatic missions, consular offices or visa centres – applications may be submitted online from anywhere.
Russia is visa-free for Indian passport holders who have diplomatic or official passports, allowing them to stay for up to 90 days. Additionally, Indian citizens who are members of aircraft crews can also enter Russia without a visa.
Step 1: Visit the Official Teleport Russia Visa Application Portal
Access the Teleport portal dedicated to Russia visa applications to start your application process.
Step 2: Initiate Your Russia Visa Application
Choose the visa category that suits your travel requirements and select 'Start Application'.
Step 3: Upload Your Passport Details
Submit digital copies of both the front and back pages of your passport. Teleport's system can automatically extract and populate your personal information, including your full name, date of birth, nationality, and passport details, from the uploaded images. Alternatively, you can manually input this information if you prefer.
Step 4: Provide Your Travel Itinerary Details
In the "Visit Details" section of the application, clearly outline the ports where you intend to enter and exit Russia.
Step 5: Finalise Visa Payment
Proceed to complete the visa fee transaction via Teleport. A nominal service charge is applied, and Teleport offers flexibility in payment methods. You can choose to pay the entire amount upfront or opt for a partial payment initially, with the remainder settled once our experts have thoroughly reviewed your submission.
Upon receiving embassy approval for your application, Teleport will promptly notify you via WhatsApp and Email. Your visa can then be downloaded directly from the Teleport Dashboard.
Step 1: Access the Official Portal
Start your application process by visiting the official Russian visa website. Carefully read all instructions and ensure to check all the necessary boxes. Click on 'Fill out a new application form' to proceed.
Step 2: Fill in Your Information
Login to create a new application and note down the Application ID number provided. Begin by uploading a photo that meets the specified requirements. Then, proceed to fill in your personal details, contact information, and any additional required information.
When travelling with minor children listed in your passport, a separate application for a unified e-visa must be submitted for each child. All minor children travelling with their parents must possess a separate e-visa.
Step 3: Review Your Application
Thoroughly review your application for any errors or inaccuracies. Submitting incorrect information can result in delays or rejection of your visa application.
It's mandatory to include the date, month, and year of birth when completing the application form. If your passport does not specify your full date of birth, the unified e-visa application cannot be processed.
Note
If any information provided in the application is found to be incorrect during processing, the application will be halted and returned to you for corrections. You'll have up to two calendar days from the submission date to edit and resubmit the application via your personal account. Processing will resume only after the corrected application has been resubmitted.
Step 4: Payment of Visa Fee
The application fee for a single-entry eVisa is INR 4400. Payment can be made through the specialised website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or via the Russian Foreign Ministry mobile application using Internet acquiring technology with internationally accepted bank cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.).
Note
Payment is non-refundable regardless of the application outcome. There is no consular fee for e-visa applications for children under 6 years of age.
Step 5: Confirmation and Tracking
Following payment, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided. You can track the status of your application by accessing your personal account on the website.
Step 6: Approval Notification
Upon approval of your visa, you will receive an email notification along with a copy of your visa. Keep a close eye on your email, as additional information may be requested by the consulate, leading to further review of your visa. Make sure to regularly check the eVisa website for any updates.

Russia visa validity and duration of stay on a Russian visa can vary depending on the type of visa obtained. Typically, tourist e-visas are granted for a validity period of 60 days, with a maximum stay duration of up to 16 days per visit.
It's important to carefully review the details of your visa to understand its specific validity and stay duration. Overstaying the permitted duration or violating the terms of your visa can lead to legal consequences and difficulties when attempting to exit the country or apply for future visas.
The validity period of an electronic visa and/or the allowed duration of stay may only be extended under exceptional circumstances, such as the impossibility of leaving Russian territory due to emergency medical treatment, force majeure, or natural disasters.
Extension of the e-visa and/or the permitted stay duration is handled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation or its regional offices, based on the migrant registration location. If there's no migrant registration, the extension is processed at the actual stay location by issuing a regular (non-electronic) visa.
If you possess a valid Russian visa in your passport, there's no need to apply for a unified e-visa. You can enter the Russian Federation using the regular visa within its validity period, without the constraints of the unified e-visa. Additionally, obtaining an e-visa does not extend the validity of a regular visa.
