Do Indians Need a Visa to Visit Liechtenstein?

  • Liechtenstein is a land-locked country in Europe but is not a member of the European Union. However, Liechtenstein is a member of the Schengen Region. Hence, Indians need a Schengen visa to visit the country for tourism, business, or other purposes. This visa permits a stay of up to 90 days in a 180-day timeframe in the Schengen Region. Indians must apply at the Swiss Embassy in New Delhi to get their Liechtenstein visa in India.
  • In 2024, the European Union implemented a revised Schengen visa policy for Indian citizens. According to the latest regulations-
  • Indian nationals who have utilised two Schengen visas within the previous three years qualify for a two-year multiple-entry Schengen visa.
  • Upon expiration of the two-year visa, individuals with valid passports will be eligible for a five-year Schengen visa.

Types of Liechtenstein Visas for Indian Citizens

Liechtenstein is a part of the Schengen Region. Schengen countries primarily offer the following types of visas-

  1. Short-Stay Schengen Visa: A holder of a Short-stay Schengen visa is allowed to travel to any of the 29 Schengen States for up to 90 days during any 180-day timeframe. However, it may be indicated on the visa sticker that the holder is allowed to visit only certain Schengen states and not all of them. This visa is primarily used for tourism, visiting friends or relatives, and short business trips.
  2. Airport Transit Visa: The holder of an airport transit visa is only allowed to transit through the international transit areas of the issuing Schengen Member State and possibly other States if indicated on the visa sticker. Schengen rules do not cover long-stay visas of member states. These visas are issued according to the national regulations of each Member State.

Financial Requirements for Liechtenstein Visa for Indians

For a Liechtenstein visa, as with any Schengen visa application, you'll need to demonstrate that you have sufficient financial means to cover your expenses during your stay in the country. The specific financial requirements can vary slightly depending on the country you apply your visa for, but typically include the following:

  • Minimum Bank Balance

While there is no fixed amount specified as a minimum balance, you should have a substantial amount of money available in your bank account to support your entire stay in the Schengen Region.

  • Proof of Adequate Funds

Show clear bank statements, salary slips, and past Income-tax return forms as proof of sufficient funds to cover your travel costs, including accommodation, transportation, meals, and other expenses.

  • Travel Insurance

Having adequate travel insurance covering medical expenses and repatriation is mandatory for obtaining a Schengen visa. Your travel medical insurance should be valid for the entire Schengen territory, not just with the minimum coverage being € 30,000 per person.
